Hoping to put the boat in the water this weekend

I have been so busy with work that I have not been able to keep up with my reports, so they will now be continued under my tournament recaps, as I will let you all know how each tournament turns out, so check out the tournament page for all the tourney info.

4-11-1- Gary Adkins and I headed out on Winnebago to try to put some bass in the boat. Water temps were in the 60's only a week ago, at the start today temps were about 46 degrees. We started fishing for smallies and found a few spots that held a couple fish, we caught about a dozen smallies and a couple largies that Gary put in the boat. all fish came on tubes fishing rocks piles.

4-2-10 Julie and I headed out for a few hours of on the water fishing, sunny skies, warm temps, and little wind. Great early spring day to put some bass in the boat. Someone should have told the bass we were there. Fishing was slow, but did manage a nice 4 lbs walleye and a 30 inch musky. Water temp was up to 52 degrees.

4-1-10 Julie and I set out to fish the Wolf River and put a few bass in the boat, and the bass did cooperate today as we put about 12 to 15 bass in the boat, mostly males along with one 3 pound female, and a couple toothy critters. Sunny skies with warm temps pushed the water temps to the upper 50's in the afternoon, along with a strong SW wind that made the ride back to Winneconne no fun at all. Black and blue 1/4 ounce C&B jigs caught all the fish today.

That's just what I did today, 2-28-2010 made it out on the Menominee river in downtown Milwaukee and had a good morning for at least a couple hours. From the River Front landing I headed up the Menominee in search of warmer water. I fished a silver, blue hollow belly swimbait about 4 to 6 feet down with no fish. I switched to a yellow 3/16 ounch jig with a 3 inch Zoom white fluke and caught 3 smallies between 13 and 15 inches. It was the kind of morning I love to fish, 33 degree air temp, 54 degree water and biting bass. That's when I noticed gas leaking from my outboard, not being able to find the source of the leak I headed in and called it a day. I can't wait to get back out there later this week. With a warming trend coming this week the fish should be snapping, and any time I can catch bass here in Wisconsin while the lakes still have 20 inches of ice on them is GREAT. Sorry I don't have any pictures, but I left my camera in my work truck, that won't happen again.

3-21-10 Julie and I made it down to the Milwaukee River, she needed to get some of the rust off from last season. It was a great day to be fishing and that's what we did, we fished instead of caught. We spent about an hour and a half casting from shore without any luck. Water is still a little high and a little cold, but things should be going in the next couple weeks. I had a blast throwing new lures, designs I came up with over winter. Most of them can go into the garbage can, but a couple will be put to test during the season. Now that Julie has polished off some rust, maybe the next time out I will give her a chance at the casting title, which I own. She still thinks she is going to catch the first bass of the season when we fish together, I guess it depends on the mood I am in. The season is under way so check back often for reports.
